26 Survival Uses For Tinfoil
What da heck is tin foil doing in your first aid kit?
Allow me to explain. Tin foil is super-awesome for many emergency situations. Sure, everyone knows that aliens can't listen to your thoughts if you are wearing a tin foil hat, but also...
1.Tin foil can reflect your body heat back to you. If you are cold, put tin foil between you and the ground to retain warmth. If someone is injured, the cold of the ground can have more impact than you might think.
2. Tin foil can reflect the heat of a fire towards you, increasing the warmth.
3. Tin foil can be used as an emergency reflective signal.
4. Tin foil can reflect light into your car and keep you warmer.
5. Tin foil can be used as a packet to help you cook over a fire. Packet cooking is delicious!
6. Tin foil makes an extremely light container for pills, or matches, or anything small. When backpacking, keeping things light matters.
7. Tin foil, on a hot day, can be used on the dash of your car to create a solar oven, or outdoors the bright, hot sun.
8. Tin foil can make an emergency cooking pot, with a little origami.
9. Tin foil can be used, if you are lost, as a marker to help searchers find your path. Wrap it around tree branches to signal your way.
10. Tin foil can block the water or wind, so you can build a fire.
11. Tin foil can protect you from moisture if you put it under a sleeping bag, or put it in your sleeping bag to reflect your body heat back to you (a space blanket is better, but we are talking about foil right now).
12. Tin foil can maximize the light of a candle or flashlight.
13.Tin foil can be used to melt snow for drinking. One shouldn't eat snow in an emergency because the cold will lower body temperature, and burn too many calories to retain body heat. In a dry climate, collect condensation or morning dew in tin foil cups.
14.Tin foil can be used to replace an antennae on a radio.
15. Tin foil can be used to make all sorts of repairs and patches.
16.Tin foil can make a candleholder.
17. Tin foil can be used to make a clean, dry work space.
18. Tin foil can be used to redirect a leak in a tent, or wherever you don't want drips.
19.Tin foil can be used to ration your food and other resources.
20. Tin foil conducts electricity and can be used to repair electronics.
21. Tin foil can be taped over a wound or burn to keep it clean and protected.
22. Tin foil can be fashioned into a fishing lure. The shine will attract fish.
23. Tin foil can be a firestarter...take a cotton ball, dip in petroleum jelly, set it on a little square of tinfoil, and light!
24. Tin foil can sharpen scissors...fold over into a strip, and cut.
25. Tin foil can be used to create a large signal...spell out S.O.S in an open area.
26. While waiting for rescue, or exhausted by exposure...entertain yourself by making tin foil animals. If you have enough time, make a tin foil zoo. Still there? Double your zoo, and have your own Noah's Ark.
What could YOU do with tin foil in an emergency?
Love and light,
Your friend,
Hil
